Cuisines From Across East Asia
Some of the world’s most exciting cuisines come from East Asia, where the food is fresh and wonderful, healthy, full of flavour, never boring or bland. It’s also multi-faceted and while neighbours share some common ingredients and cooking styles, East Asian countries have developed cuisines that are uniquely their own: sampling the food of each country is truly a culinary adventure. All, however, emphasise freshness and flavour - in Asia people believe that good eating is essential to good living.
Because the countries cover a diverse geography and climate, from the temperate and cool in the North to the tropical in the South, the cuisines are quite distinct, but common to the tables of all these counties are the staples of noodles and rice. Rice is always served alongside the meat, seafood, chicken and vegetables, and noodles can be wok-fried or used in soups or salads, and can be eaten as part of a meal or be a meal in a bowl themselves, eaten at all times of the day, from breakfast to supper.
